Urban Expeditio – AI-assisted Learning Adventure
The “Urban Expeditio” project is an Erasmus+ initiative designed to bring Adventure Learning into classrooms by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) with treasure hunt challenges. Targeting high school students (ages 14–18), this project aims to enhance problem-solving skills, creativity, teamwork, and digital literacy while immersing students in urban exploration.
European Context and Relevance
This project addresses the modern educational demand for digital transformation, aligning with the EU’s Digital Education Action Plan (2021–2027). By combining adventure learning with AI, the project connects students to real-world applications, encouraging them to explore and appreciate their urban environments, which cultivates cultural understanding and European identity.
Objectives and Goals
The main goals of the project are:
- Fostering critical digital skills among students.
- Empowering teachers with innovative methods to enhance engagement.
- Promoting cultural awareness and teamwork through adventure-based activities.
Target Group
The project primarily focuses on:
- High school students (ages 14–18) who will engage in interactive, challenge-based learning experiences.
- Teachers who will receive training in digital skills and innovative educational strategies.
Detailed Activities
The project includes several core work packages (WPs):
- WP1 – Project Management and Dissemination: Overseeing project coordination and results dissemination.
- WP2 – EXPEDITIO Teachers’ Handbook and Competence Framework: Developing resources and training for educators.
- WP3 – Adventure eLearning Platform & AI Toolkit: Creating an interactive online platform to support adventure learning.
- WP4 – Exploitation and Multiplier Events: Hosting events to promote project outcomes and encourage community involvement.
Expected Results
The project is expected to:
- Produce an “Urban Expeditio” Handbook and Competence Framework to support educators.
- Develop the “EXPEDITIO Academy,” an online platform with resources for AI-enhanced adventure learning.
- Foster digital literacy and critical thinking skills among students, preparing them for a technology-driven future.
Resources and Funding
The project is funded through Erasmus+ KA220 SCH, and will run from October 2024 to September 2026.
